The script tag
Paste the snippet from your project's Widget page before the closing body tag. The data-site-key attribute is what resolves your project; the src is where the loader and the chat app are served from.
The loader is a dependency-free script of about two kilobytes. It draws the launcher bubble, fetches your public theme config, and only injects the chat iframe the first time a visitor opens it. On mobile the panel goes full-screen.

Any framework that renders a script tag works. In Next.js, put the tag in the root layout, or use next/script with the afterInteractive strategy so it never blocks hydration. Single-page apps need the tag once; the loader survives client-side navigation because it lives outside your router.
WordPress
Install the Helpo AI plugin, click Connect, and approve the request from your Helpo dashboard. The plugin embeds the widget on every page and holds its own scoped token rather than your login. Revoking that token from Helpo takes the site offline immediately without touching WordPress.
Shopify
The Shopify install has two independent halves. Importing your catalog as knowledge needs no install at all: Helpo reads the storefront's public products.json. The Helpo app is a separate, approved install that pushes order updates to Helpo so the AI can answer order questions. Helpo never holds credentials that could read your shop.
Restricting where the widget can load
On Pro and above, the Allowed domains card on the project's settings page limits which hostnames may embed the widget. When a page outside the list loads the script, the loader mounts nothing and logs one warning. An empty list means no restriction, so enabling the feature can never take a live widget offline by accident.
Checking the install
Every time the loader fetches your config, Helpo records that the widget was seen. The project home shows a Live indicator once that happens, so you can confirm an install without opening the site yourself.
