1. Create a project
Sign in at app.helpo.support and create a project. The onboarding survey is skippable; the only thing the widget needs is a name. Every project gets a site key that identifies it to the widget, so you can run one project per site or per product.
2. Install the widget
Copy the snippet from the project's Widget page and paste it before the closing body tag. It is a small loader: the chat interface itself only downloads when a visitor opens it.
<script
src="https://chat.helpo.support/widget.js"
data-site-key="pk_YOUR_SITE_KEY"
async
></script>3. Add a knowledge source
Open Knowledge base and add whatever you already have. A website crawl reads your sitemap and lets you pick which pages to index; files accept PDF, text and Markdown; Q&A pairs cover the answers that were never written down. Sources ingest in the background and flip to ready when their chunks are indexed.
4. Test in the playground
The playground is a private chat against the same retrieval the widget uses. Ask the questions your customers ask and read the citations under each answer. If an answer is wrong, the fix is almost always a missing or stale source, not a prompt change.
5. Invite your team and go live
Add teammates under Members so they can take over conversations from the inbox. The Go-live checklist on the project home confirms the widget has been seen on your site, a source is ready, and at least one person can answer.
